University of Wisconsin-Madison - postdoctoral positions in plasma astrophysics in the Zhdankin or Zweibel research groups

The University of Wisconsin–Madison invites applications for two postdoc positions in plasma astrophysics in the Zhdankin or Zweibel research groups. Applications from early career scientists with an expertise and interest in kinetic plasma physics, computational plasma physics, high-energy astrophysics, relativistic plasmas, turbulence, and analytic theory are particularly encouraged, and there will be abundant opportunities to join our multi-institutional collaborations and to interact with colleagues in the Astronomy and Physics Departments. A PhD in Physics, Astrophysics, or a related field is required. The initial appointment will be for 2 years with the possibility of extension for a third year.

Using the application form, applicants should provide a statement of research interests and relevant professional experience of up to 3 single spaced pages, a CV and Bibliography, and names and contact information for 3 persons who can serve as references. Applications received by 1 December, 2024 will receive full consideration.

Inquiries regarding the position should be directed to Vladimir Zhdankin (zhdankin@wisc.edu) and/or Ellen Zweibel (zweibel@astro.wisc.edu).

The University of Wisconsin is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer. We promote excellence through diversity and encourage all qualified individuals to apply.
