University of Wisconsin-Madison - postdoctoral position in Computational Physics and Fusion Energy

The University of Wisconsin–Madison invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in Computational Physics and Fusion Energy in the UWPlasma research group. Applications from early career scientists, postdocs, and finishing graduate students with expertise and interest in fusion energy, programming, and/or optimization are particularly encouraged. The successful applicant is anticipated to take leading roles in the FusIon Research Engine (FIRE) collaboratives on campus that focus on accurate prediction of stellarator and magnetic mirror plasma properties. The group has been developing a suite of differentiable and highly performant codes (see https://github.com/uwplasma) for such efforts, and the successful applicant will have an opportunity to define a research program that supports these activities.

Using the application form, applicants should provide a CV and the names of 2 persons who can serve as references. Optionally, a cover letter can also be sent. Applications received by 15 April, 2026 will receive full consideration.
